CP2 EHO Confined Space Entry to Cable Tunnel or Service Duct

Confined Space Entry to Cable Tunnel or Service Duct training is a two day course that is also available as a one day refresher course for more experienced persons. Training takes place at the customer’s site or training facility and intake is between six and eight delegates per class. The course is suitable for anyone whose job involves entry into confined spaces for either work or rescue operations (i.e. team leaders, risk assessors, permit issuers or plant managers), thus requiring specific knowledge of the Confined Space Regulations (1997).

The course’s aim is to help attendees develop awareness and identify basic hazards that are present when working in confined spaces, as well as the correct procedures and inspection of equipment. Delegates will become familiar with the Water UK Administrative Controls for Confined Spaces, including the classification list, risk assessments, safe system of work, rescue plans and permit to work.

Delegates will be shown how to use various templates to assess risks on a dynamic basis, carry out a pre-use inspection and demonstrate an ability to correctly select and use the appropriate equipment. Delegates will also learn how to judge team sizes in the event of needing to plan more complex operations.

Final examination involves planning an entry, operating in the space, leaving, closing down the space and then reporting. The delegate’s ability to inspect and operate equipment will also be specifically assessed.

Upon successful completion of the assessments a certificate will be issued to confirm the delegate’s passing of a Confined Space Entrant and Topman course. This certificate will be valid for three years from the course date.

Please note that a pre-requisite for delegates who will attend this course is the ability to participate in risk assessment workshops and be fit enough to physically enter and work in confined spaces.(It is the employers responsibility to ascertain the fitness of delegates).
