BA3 Breathing Apparatus Wearer
Breathing Apparatus Wearer training is an initial two day course for new wearers or one day refresher for the more experienced wearer. The course takes place in a classroom setting, with a maximum of six delegates and is suitable for all persons who may be required to use breathing apparatus within an industrial environment.
The aim of the course is to facilitate competency when inspecting, documenting and using specified breathing apparatus equipment. Delegates will also become conversant with all current UK legislation relevant to breathing apparatus use. The course teaches hands on procedures in the inspection of equipment through a classroom seminar followed by practical inspection and use of specified breathing apparatus.
Practical aspects of the training involve inspection and donning of escape, entry and airline breathing apparatus, as well as the removal and storage of the equipment after use. Delegates will take part in restricted movement and obscured vision exercises in breathing apparatus galleries, which create a ‘beyond worst case scenario’ for equipment usage.
The course concludes with a written and practical exam, and after successfully completing both, delegates will be presented with a certificate confirming their attending and passing of a Breathing Apparatus Wearer Course with inspection and documentation of RPE. This certificate is valid for three years from the date of issue.
Please note that this is not a fire fighting course.
